I want to get in good enough shape that I could run a half marathon whenever I want without it being a big deal.

I am a receational runner and an outdoorsman. I believe that in order to fully enjoy my hobbies I need to be in good shape and have a healthy lifestyle.
I had a great run on the treadmill this morning. I ran at a steady 5.5 mhp pace for 20 minutes and then did one intervals of 7.8 mph for aout 16 minutes and then ended with a nice 5.5 mph pace to cool down.
I ran the first 20 minutes at 5.5 mph and then the rest was one miniute fifteen second intervals of approx 8 mph with 1 min 45 second walking period s where I walked 3.5 mph.
